-komedia science-fiction w reżyserii Andrzeja Wajdy, wybitnego polskiego filmowca, laureata honorowego Oscara amerykańskiej Akademii Filmowej. Scenariusz, pod tytułem "Przekładaniec", napisany został przez samego Stanisława Lema, na podstawie własnego opowiadania "Czy pan istnieje, Mr. Johns?". Głównym i równocześnie poniekąd zbiorowym bohaterem filmu jest Richard Fox, kierowca rajdowy. Podczas najeżonej wypadkami kariery większość narządów Foxa została zastąpiona przeszczepami. Ponadto Fox razem z organami zdaje się przejmować cechy osobowościowe rozlicznych dawców. Powoduje to rosnące wątpliwości, co do jego prawnej osobowości. Groteskowy obraz przyszłości, w której powszechna dostępność transplantacji powoduje zatarcie granic osobniczego "ja" jednostki. Wartka akcja toczy się wokół pytania, ile jeszcze jest Richarda Foksa w Richardzie Foksie oraz jaki jest jego właściwy prawny status.
+a science-fiction comedy directed by Andrzej Wajda, a famous Polish film director, awarded Oscar for a lifetime achievement in 2002. The screenplay entitled "Przekladaniec" (Layer Cake, Roly-poly) was written by Lem himself.  It was based on his short story "Czy pan istnieje, Mr. Johns?" ("Do you exist, Mr. Johns?")  The main character is a racing driver Richard Fox. During his career, as a consequence of rally crashes, a number of his internal organs are replaced with transplants and it seems that Fox starts to exhibit some of the personalities of the donors.  This creates doubts about his legal status and identity.

Również w liście do reżysera z dnia 20 sierpnia 1968 roku Lem nie szczędzi pochwał: "...Zarówno robota Pana, jak dzieło aktorów oraz wystrój scenograficzny wydały mi się bardzo dobre. [...] "Przyszłość" bliska a nieokreślona została zrobiono bardzo pomysłowo, biorąc pod uwagę to zwłaszcza, jak szczupłymi środkami Pan tego dokonał".
