Stanisław Bereś (pen name Stanisław Nowicki), born on May 4th, 1950 in Wroclaw, Poland. A poet, literary critic, translator and historian of literature.

A professor at the Institute of Journalism and Social Communication in Wroclaw; lecturer at the Academy for Dramatic Arts; an academic at the Université Charles-de-Gaulle in France (1987-1993). Editor and host of Polish TV programs dedicated to literature: Telewizyjne Wiadomości Literackie (TVP 2, TV Polonia), a culture magazine Latarnik (TV Polonia), "Jatka Kulturalna" (TVP 3). A member of the jury of the "Nike" Literary Award, a juror of the Angelus Literary Award of Central Europe. Professor Bereś holds regular discussions with writers at the Teatr Polski in Wroclaw "Magiel Literacki (2006).

Professor Bereś published 22 books and about 350 articles, papers and reviews in prestigious magazines in Poland and abroad.
